We've seen a lot of places and met a lot of people during the last 40 years.
No place has touched us quite like Mykonos, a tiny, rock of an island in the Aegean Sea.

The Poseidon Hotel on Mykonos, in 1989 ..

and Mr. and Mrs. Nikos Kousathanas, who own the Poseidon, Stephanos (the one with the black beard) who used to help them run it in those years, Ramona and me.. Stephanos has moved on, now ..

Eldest son Ted, a teenager here in 1989, gets some excellent advice from father Niko. A wonderful man and a hard taskmaster, Niko taught Ted well. Today, fifteen years later, Ted's a solid businessman, running the Poseidon now, and a beautiful hotel it is ..

We love this tiny Greek island, and we especially love the people who inhabit it.
It was one of the places we visited again on our trip in May, 2001. Hard to believe over five years have passed. (Nikos, we will be back, but "when" is a question.) As you old friends know, we put pictures and a running commentary of sorts up here on the web as the May trip progressed. It was difficult at times, but a lot of fun. Those accounts of our travel are below, just as they went up to the web from one hotel room after another. If you'd care to share, be my guest; Just click away, and have fun!
