Mykonos, Page 4 ..

                As promised ..

The trendy new hair color is red. You may see a dark auburn, obviously dyed, but within nature’s possibilities, or a lipstick red, garish and jarring ..

Eva’s Garden, one of our favorite restaurants, is still here, and the chicken casio I had last night was to die for.

Another favorite restaurant, Pelecanos, has survived the years, too.

A new restaurant we really enjoyed was Niko’s Taverna.

We liked the Oasis Garden Restaurant, too.

In the evening, as so often in the past, we returned to Montparnasse, our favorite bar, in the area called Little Venice, where the buildings extend over the water.  I drank Bellinis and Dick sipped fruit punch while we listened to classical music and  watched  the sun transform the sky into gorgeous colors as it sank into Homer’s “wine-dark sea.”

We could spend a day just watching the sea. Photos can’t capture it. It changes by the hour. If I could find the words to describe it as it is, you’d think I was exaggerating. If an artist could splash its colors across a canvass you’d think the richness and variety of shades of blue, green, aqua and purple were products of his imagination.

Folks,   gazing at this spectacle you know you're not looking at the Gulf of Mexico.

Niko's son, Ted, told us that, much as he liked the U.S., where he went to college, he wanted to live with his family on Mykonos. And he said , "I have to be near the sea." Not hard to understand why.
